Instead, long after the great Keyblade War, there was supposedly a crystal found in one of the worlds that proved to hold power that was unheard of.
Three groups (The Dark, The Light, and The Nothing) received mysterious letters, all saying that the crystal was for their group, holding strength and magic that applied only to them. The original leaders of the groups set off on the same mission for different reasons: they all needed that crystal.
The group of Darkness was promised the worlds being shrouded forever in darkness, and the destruction of all Light would ensue.
The group of Light was promised the worlds being eternally happy and full of Light, no Darkness to strike fear.
The group of Nothing was promised the worlds being forever toned down to the point where Light and Darkness no longer existed.
The three groups reconstructed the Land of Departure into a school that consists of three buildings, one for each group. Children at the age of ten may come to the Land of Departure and train to become Keyblade wielders. Most graduate at the age of 18, but there are exceptions in both younger and older.
Now, five years later, the groups have new leaders, the crystal is still being searched for, and the mission is still being carried out.
