Am I a Beast? (Open)

[Midnight]

She pushed open one of the entrances into the castle, all of her effort going into it. Scarlet quietly slid in, her large Lolita dress getting in the way quite a bit. The teenager closed the door as silently as she could (Which wasn't all that silent) after her, then stood still, looking around a bit, before moving forward.

Scarlet stopped.

What was that sound? Before she could think about the answer, what seemed like fifty Heartless made their way out of the ground, and Scarlet summoned her keyblade, standing straighter than ever, black gothic boots together. "Alright, alright, let's go."

One would think that the Heartless would fight for a wielder of Darkness, but that didn't always apply, unfortunately for Scarlet. One had to master the power of summoning the Heartless, but that wasn't the case for Scarlet. Even then, though, Heartless would attack if they were not summoned by the wielder. Scarlet shot a dark fireball at the Heartless, then took a deep breath as they began piling toward her. If only I could get some help right about now. Scarlet thought wishfully.

[Sai Tsukyoshii]

He felt like his sanity was slowly ebbing away with each passing, lonely minute. Sai wasn't the type of person who particularly liked being left to his own devices, instead he preferred to be in the company of others and at that precise moment he felt completely and utterly alone, warily treading through the eerie castle that was rumored to be home to some horrifying beast, though Sai had yet to see any such creature. Though the silence was starting to get to him, his mind kept playing tricks on him making him think he heard footsteps behind him, strange rattling noises and echoes bouncing off of the stone walls, and oddly shaped silhouettes in the flickering light. A chill ran up his spine, What a strange place to wind up in alone., he thought darkly as he continued on through the castle, being as quiet as he possibly could be.

The unique scurrying sound that he had come to identify with the sound of Heartless reached his ears, his bright eyes darting around nervously, trying to pinpoint where exactly it was coming from. When he didn't see the Shadows he relaxed slightly, but curiosity got the better of him. If they weren't after him then there had to be something or someone that they were after because the way Heartless worked was by raw instinct and something had to attract them to an area in the first place.

Summoning his Starfallen Crest in preparation, Sai strode forward, intently listening to the sounds and following them until the scurrying sounds were echoing off of the stone walls, making it sound as if they were all around him. The teen came out of a room and found himself atop a landing with a curved staircase to his left, overlooking what appeared to be an entryway where there seemed to be at least 50 or more Heartless, all surrounding a girl who had her Keyblade drawn.

Leaping ontop of the banister, he slide down it until about 3/4s of the way down, where he leapt from it and landed a few feet away from her.

"These odds don't really seem all that fair. Mind if I join in?" His lips curved into a grin as he took a more defensive position, eyes focused on the heartless.

[Midnight]

Her red eyes dilated.

A cute boy willing to help her fight? That wasn't something Scarlet got too often. She felt a small smile make its way across her face, and she could feel her cheeks burning a bit. "Please do," Scarlet responded quietly, her smile fading into a serious frown as she looked away from the boy and instead at the Heartless.

Letting out a battle cry, Scarlet charged forward, keyblade prepared to swing. She leaped high into the air, swiping at the larger Heartless and slamming down on the smaller ones. Standing in the center of the crowd, Scarlet aimed her strikes carefully and lashed out with the occasional Dark Fireball.

However, it wasn't enough. Scarlet could feel the energy seeping out of her, and though mostly minor, the injuries she was getting were adding up. How much was the boy helping?

Now that she thought about it, the 16-year-old hadn't considered what the boy's group was before she agreed to letting him help her in the fight. The distractions of attraction and many Heartless served to possibly kick her in the ass, but Scarlet couldn't be sure quite yet, considering the guy could've been fighting where she couldn't see.

As she fought, the girl's attention was being drained by her thoughts, and though she was trying to focus on the fight, to keep training sessions flashed in her mind for reference in this real fight, it wasn't working. Scarlet was simply spacing out; there wasn't a whole lot she could do about it, really.

"Ngh," Scarlet grunted as she was shoved against the ground by a Heartless, her mind finally coming back to the fight. She sat up, rubbing the back of her head where she'd hit against the hard floor. She closed her eyes, scrunching up in fear as a huge Wizard prepared its magic attack against her.

He hadn't really planned on giving her much of a choice in the matter. The odds were definitely stacked against her but he supposed that Heartless weren't the type of creatures who played fair. It was as if time had slowed down momentarily, the heartless swaying back and forth before him, both sides anticipating the other's move and then all at once the battle ensued--he leapt forward, blade in hand, into the dark throng of enemies that had encircled him and the girl. He swung and parried and blocked attacks being thrown his way, slashing at the enemies that dared to come within a certain radius of his body.

Where were all of these Heartless coming from anyway? It seemed as if each one he dispelled another 4 would manifest in its place. What an alarming thought! He could go on for a while still, but eventually he was going to tire out and that would leave him vulnerable to an attack, especially if the creatures didn't stop showing up.

Shaking his head to clear away any and all pessimistic thoughts, the boy let his lips curls into a small smirk as he decimated a cluster of those Neo-Soldiers that he loved so much (note the sarcasm here). The raven haired boy had been so engrossed with his own fight that he had almost completely forgotten about the girl that he had shown up to help in the first place. Glancing back over his shoulder to see how she was doing Sai was met with a rather disturbing sight...she was on the ground, just moments away from being attacked by a Wizard. There wouldn't be enough time for him to dash over to her side so he did the only thing he could possibly think of.

He threw his keyblade with what he hoped was enough precision and skill to actually hit the damn Heartless. The seconds dragged on excruciatingly slow as the Starfallen Crest soared through the air, spinning over and over again, until it made contact with the creature just before it had the time to send a magic attack her way.

Sai exhaled a sigh of relief before letting a wide grin light up his face, "That actually worked, ha." As he watched the Wizard slowly dissipate back into the darkness where it had come from. Tilting his head slightly, he took a step closer, "You alright?"

Scarlet's breathing and heart slowed, both going down to a more normal pace. Most of her fear was gone as she stood, but she was a bit dizzy for a second, adrenaline rushing through her still.

"Yeah," Scarlet responded to the question, diving forward, snatching the boy's keyblade, standing, and leaping back. She swung fiercely at Heartless with the two blades to get the closest ones away from her, then launched his keyblade toward him, hoping he got it, but not stopping the fight to make sure.

Well, that was stupid, Scarlet thought after, nearly facepalming. He could've just summoned his keyblade to himself! Groaning in irritation, Scarlet took a powerful swing toward one Heartless, then looked around. Their numbers appeared to be dwindling.


Suddenly, the Heartless grouped up in the center of the room. Scarlet backed up to the door, keeping her eye on the Heartless at all time. They drew together, forming up to become one large Shadow. The teenager gulped, looking at the boy and wondering what his reaction was and what he planned to do. Scarlet was more of a leader, but this was definitely not the time to be an ornery bitch.
